Bathroom trends for 2021

Bathroom trends for 2021

2020 bathroom trends

After the success and interest of our 2020 bathroom trends guide, we thought it a fitting time to look ahead to the emerging trends for 2021. After spending so much time stuck in our homes recently, it’s a great time to consider refurbishments and home improvements. If you have any questions or would like to discuss how you can integrate any of these new trends into your own bathroom refurbishment project, call us today on 02890 861000.

  1. Repeated Patterns, Repeated!

Tessellated designs (repeated patterns) are set to be one of the biggest new bathroom trends for 2021. By using bold patterns that incorporate various shapes, dots, lines, animal prints, you can refresh an otherwise tired looking bathroom and the best news is that it’s one of the easiest trends to achieve!

One of the reasons for its popularity is due to its simplicity to execute. Whilst there are many different designs, patterns, and colours to choose from if you are getting someone in to refurbish your bathroom, it is also quick and easy to add a designer touch to a plain bathroom yourself! Achievable for any level of DIY enthusiast, you just need a pot of paint, a stencil kit or even some home-made stamps and can be finished in a couple of hours.

  1. Take A Sustainable Approach

Whilst it may not strictly be considered a design trend but planning your 2021 bathroom refurbishment with sustainability in mind is becoming a top priority for more and more people. Whether this means sourcing environmentally friendly bathroom products which save water and energy or selecting items that are made from recycled or environmentally friendly materials, going green (not literally) should be an important bathroom trend for all of us.

  1. Go Organic

Another big bathroom trend that is easy to achieve is to pick out tiles and wall cladding in soft, blush or grey colours, and combine them with simple patterns, handcrafted art and accessories to create a simple yet stylish space in which to relax.

With a slightly rustic feel, accessorise your bathroom with wall prints in simple patterns and shapes, and consider the natural environment with plants and organic items like wicker baskets.

  1. More Choice Than Chrome

As mentioned in our 2020 bathroom trends, whilst still very popular, more people are moving away from Chrome tap fittings. Why not look at more warmer tones available from other metallic finishes like gold, nickel, and antique bronze.

Alternatively, if you are going for more of an industrial theme, the trend for matt black tap fitting also continues to gain momentum. This can create a real impact, especially when paired with thin, black metal glass frames, and accessories, to create a real urban effect.

  1. Go Bold With Your Colours

Homeowners are being bolder than ever with both their colour choices and the way in which they use them. Use block colours for maximum impact – paint your cladding, walls or skirting boards in one single colour, or use subtle tonal changes to add contrast and definition. Go even further and match furniture such as basins and taps. Popular contemporary colour combinations for this 2021 bathrooms include pink & blue, green & orange and blue & white.

  1. Pay Attention To The Details

We all know that the ‘devil is in the detail’ when it comes to bathroom refurbishment projects. Bathrooms are becoming more stylised than ever before, and items like taps, mats and storage are no longer an afterthought. We predict this trend will continue into 2021 with more attention being made to those little things, like drawer handles, light pulls, bath feet and hinges, the soap dish and even the toilet brush holder, all of which adds to the bigger picture.

  1. Be Mindful About Relaxation

The rise of mindfulness and relaxation has led to the trend of luxurious spa-style cleansing at home. Incorporate plenty of luscious planting suitable for bathrooms to surround your walk-in showers or freestanding baths. Match the greenery with sandy tones to complete a cheerful and welcoming bathroom, perfect for meditating and relaxing away your daily stress.

  1. In The Navy!

The nautical style has been around for a long time, but in the latest trend forecast for 2021, this design concept takes on a more subtle approach. The dark blue base tone remains, but consider adding matt black taps and accessories to give this updated style of bathroom a bold, boho appearance, with more than a hint of elegance.
